I became a fan when the pilot aired and was addicted at once. I have written fanfic and will be adding some stories soon. My review policy is to review only authors who also review. Don't ever beg me for a review if you never review. That is wrong!
Long live TP!
If you have a minute to spare, go for it.
Fire at will? lol. This is so awesome girl. I thought one thing but then something else happened. This is light and humorous. I'd like to read more. Just sayin.
Reviewer: Xena SignedSequel to Simple Pleasures. Parker is lured away from the Centre "Fun House" and soon finds herself trapped in Jarod's literal Fun House nestled away inside a cozy county fair, no it's not what you think. (Or at least I don't think it is) Mr. Parker's body is found, Lyle is arrested along the way and... blah, who cares?
I'm reading back over some of your earlier work and I really like this one in particular. There is something about a county fair, the cotton candy, lights, the clowns. It's.... I'm not sure. It's really fun and exciting and really scary too and I remember being small and thinking how anything might be possible. Clowns freaked me the hell out but that was all a part of the fun. I like how Parker stays in denial mode. I felt that strange fair feeling but I also laughed at parts of comedic touches you wrote. The way you compare Parker taking her hands off the wheel with Jarod to puking behind the ticket stand or plummeting to death...that makes complete sense to me. Who hasn't been terrified of falling in love and when love can get a person killed by the Centre. She has a reason to be afraid like this. It's a lighter look at the reality of her situation but only surface lightness. Reading again after a few years I can see that this isn't light at all. It's a woman terrified of what she's feeling. It's thought provoking and profound. That GNR song by the way is epic and really appropriate for Jarod and Parker. You can revisit and post more of this if you'd like. There are no rules against you adding another chapter to let us know what's going on. Please?
Reviewer: Xena SignedA sequel to FUN HOUSE and SIMPLE PLEASURES. You don't have to read either of those to get the gist of this.
I remember this gem fondly. It's a conclusion that isn't. I read both chapters and I would like to know how these two crazy people are doing together.
"Sorry, Jarod, no refunds. It's the Centre after all, not some over sized, monopolizing giant of a store. There were no customer service representatives waiting with artificial smiles to apologize for Jarod's unsatisfactory experiences." Perfect.
Reviewer: Xena Signed
Stay. What else is there to say? I love it. But remember you can always give us one more tiny chapter to show us how they're doing now. Please?
Reviewer: Xena SignedRetribution goes awry when Jarod inadvertently kills a man. (Story in English)
I don't know what to say. I can barely breathe. Mirage. The writing was mind blowing. It's brilliant. It's amazing! You always blow me away. I don't know what I did to deserve a writer of your caliber writing my favorite tv series and writing these characters I've grown to love the way they were on tv but I did something right! I hope you'll stay. I know you can better, write novels like a mad woman, write circles around everyone else. I'm greedy. I want you to keep contributing here. This fandom needs it. You are the reason I come here. The reason I'm still a fan of this series. You keep me coming back. Please don't leave. ONe more request***** Please don't let Parker die. Let Jarod work on her. You know he can save her. He has to! I will beg.
Thank you so much, Xena, for reading and for the lovely review. You're too kind. No, Parker won't be dying. I might even let Jarod live too.
Reviewer: Xena SignedFabulous story and eloquetly written. You're a wordsmith Mirage. I love how unforced it all seems. Please update soon.
Reviewer: Xena SignedI was reading the reviews just now and your responses. You said the tension seems mostly Jarod-generated but doesn't that mean Michael T. Weiss generated? Or do you separate the two? I get so curious sometimes. You don't have to answer. I study sociologoy and anthropology. I asked uncomfortable questions. I'm awkward. :)
Hi, Xena. I had to go back and read again. No, Jarod-generated is what I intended to type. I never assume that a player behaves or reacts the same as the character. It's acting. I guess it never occured to me that a player might be as overbearing or tension-generating as the character they portray. Yikes.
I've never really given this one a lot of thought obviously. I suppose I do separate character and player. I don't mind the question. It's not uncomfortable. You're not awkward at all.
Reviewer: Xena SignedTwincest. With a twist!
YUMS. So explosive Mirage. I mean.... dahhhhhmmmn. I'm loving this. Sequel?
Reviewer: Xena SignedWhen Jarod and his clone are presumed dead and further cloning attempts prove futile, Raines is determined to find another way. He finds it in Dry River, Arizona.
I'm going to properly review this but now I just want to give props for this chapter. Girlfriend, you don't like Jarod? Most people can see he's sexy. I wonder if you sense what you're dealing with here in him or if you feel nothing because I'm like Michael's costar was on Jeffrey always like 'oh my god there HE is', mouth hanging open and in awe and I'm curious how you react. You've actually seen Michael in real life. Were you like 'omg'? Did you stop and stare, feel anything? Please tell me you didn't throw up? lol Did you realize at the time that many women would have traded places with you and probably asked him to bed? Did sex cross your mind at all?!! lol Once in a lifetime opportunity Mirage. You could have claimed it was research for your fiction? Think about it?! Not that you need to research. You nailed it honey. Anyhoo! Very profound the way you illustrated his similarities to the Triumvirate and his ability to split himself ie be concerned for Parker's feelings while preying on her feelings. He's a gorgeous pyschopath, inn't he?! You reveal his darkness without a physical action ie he doesn't have to be physically or sexually abusive not that I'd have a problem reading abuse. It's been a while since Circles and Forces. Just putting that out there. Your wording showed tact. There are too many quotables to mention. Thank you for continuing to write Mirage. Thank you a million babes. Welcome back!
Hi, Xena. Mm. No, I didn't vomit (I'm anti-vomit, actually). They were all completely benign non-encounters. I can't remember what I was thinking; I, do, however, know I've never ventured outdoors like a dominatrix in search of prey (and at 5'9 & 121 lbs I wouldn't be a terribly intimidating predator, I'm afraid) (I'd have to stalk the shorter men) (where did I leave that darn whip?) (haha). No, I didn't stop and stare, my jaw didn't unhinge. He's a human (not a veritable sex god or chew toy).
Yes, I am aware that Jarod's player is a wanted man: the incubator is the ultimate fangirl; she watched "sex" operas 24/7, all day, every channel, dvds and it just so happens that- (that I don't want to finish the sentence). It's weird what I didn't remember remembering (until reviewers began talking to me more and more about Dr. Mike). It's safe to say that I'm more aware than I want to be. Fortunately, it skipped a generation or I developed an immunity.
I think that covers your questions.
I'm glad you're liking this. Thank you, Xena, for reading and reviewing.
Reviewer: Xena SignedWhen you care enough to send the very best
I love this story so much. Christmas or not! The best.
Reviewer: Xena SignedThe PERFECT pretender xmas tale. Sequel? Jarod's going to know she killed Raines and he's going to have questions. Please make it so Queen!!
Reviewer: Xena SignedJarod is implicated in a spate of homicides.
Noo it ended. I've got the happy tears on my face Mirage. I love the ghosts. That's fitting with this series. So many ghost flashbacks and visits from dead peeps. It's a beautiful ending and you do the story and the entire The Pretender series justice, you always do. I will miss this one. I'm so stoked that you have other in progress work. Never stop writing plesae.
Reviewer: Xena SignedYou will never know how much respect I have for you as an author and woman. ..and a Pretender fan. You kept the fandom alive and you still breathe life into it. Thank you Mirage for this and every chapter. What a proud accomplishment and an amazing contribution to a fandom in real and true urgent need of good material to read! Hugs!
Reviewer: Xena SignedUh oh they are getting closer! I can tell it. OMG! Please make it so. You write everything out of this world amazing and you excel at writing sex. No one can hold a candle to you. if they don't have sex tho I won't be mad or anything. There's always Sweet Dreams and Transcendence to reread. Sigh. More please. It's so wonderful to have you back and as proficient as ever!
Thanks for reading and reviewing and the warm welcome back, Xena.
Reviewer: Xena SignedSomething? Girl are you kidding? This is EVERYTHING. Very exquisitely done too. I've read a lot of these, been here for a long time. There's nothing better than this. Imma need a cold shower now. Thank you for giving me what I will probably never live to see happen. Now I have seen it. I googled condos using your descriptions,

and then interior.. the following shows views from the window and the mirror.

It's so perfect. They came together so beautifully. I hear their voices when I read you Mirage. I hear Michael and Andrea and Jon and all of them. Thank you. Thank you so much.
Mm those images in the links are almost exactly what I had in mind, particularly the penthouse at the bottom with all the mirrors and glass. I never thought to seek out an image for a framework. It's not perfect, but you're kind nonetheless. Thank you for reading and reviewing, Xena.
Reviewer: Xena SignedWow.
Wow! Wow is all I've got baby. It's so strange that you put me the reader IN the story and the way you flesh out the characters is wow! I'm blown away. I love your writing style and the story. I'll be waiting impatiently.
Reviewer: Xena SignedIt keeps getting better and beter and I keep wanting more and more. It's so addicting. I would like to suggest fan art or screen shots from the series.. not just on the cover of the story but in chapters and all through the story. Don't get me wrong. You write visually and illustrate with words but I also like to see Jarod. I'm too big of a fan of his and too big a fan of your writing. I'll go away now. Sorry.
Hi. I saw this a minute ago and located my dvds and copy/pasted into paintshop, and did the thing you wanted. I can't art, but I can screen shot-- sorta. I added some lighting because Jarod is so fucking dark---and I don't think I noticed that until ten minutes ago. I can't believe I didn't notice that before. I knew he was dark. I didn't realize he was quite so literally dark.
Please never ask me to do that again. I had all sorts of fucky reminders of first grade when I was laughed at by teachers and other dicks because the horse I drew looked like a deranged lightbulb. I guess they were expecting Modigliani or Rembrandt.
I'm glad you like the scribbling. Thank you for reading and reviewing.
Absolutely exquisite from beginning to ending and a almost happy ending. Squee. I love it. Always in character, always keeping me hanging on the edge of my seat.
Take a bow.
Reviewer: Xena SignedYah! I knew from the first sentence that this was going to be one of the best chapters I've ever read You didn't disappoint me. I'm a parent and I know how hard it is and I won't shame Jarod and Parker for not wanting a child. I'm so glad they found this refuge even if the sofa they're having sex on is hideous. Misfits is appropriate. I thank you with all of my heart for doing justice to these characters who are really like family. This was really special Mirage but no it wasn't sappy or cheesy. They needed each other. Ahh. My heart. It doesn't matter if you're a shipper. I'm thrilled that you're keeping them alive. Please don't let them die.
Reviewer: Xena SignedA past transgression jeopardizes Sydney's life.
Ooh I thought they were getting married at first. Sydney finally scores! I love that Parker was almost kind of like afraid Jarod would change his mind. They're going for it. They should. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Reviewer: Xena SignedThis is terrifying Mirage I just want you to know. It's brilliantly written. You are wordsmith and an amazing storyteller and narrator. You know the characters and where to put them and how to use them. You do it all wonderfully and describe it and make it all plausible .... and omg I love it but omg that is why it's so terrifying and I want more. Is Sydney going to live? I know you love Sydney. I hope Jarod will come to his *@!&ing senses and help Parker find Sydney before it's too late. My adrenaline is like... boom. More. Soon. OMG.
Reviewer: Xena SignedThis is beatiful and intelligently written and I hope you will continue. I hope Jarod and Miss Parker will tell each other how they feel and try one more time. Either way this is brilliant. Thank you for sharing with us.
We shall see. Thanks for reading and reviewing, Xena.
Reviewer: Xena SignedAww Mirage. You illustrate with words. I love it. Please don't stop.
Oh, you imply that it's possible for me to stop. I can't.
Thanks for the r&r, Xena.
Reviewer: Xena Signed_
Oh, wow, I'm so stoked for more already. You write and write and I gobble it up instantly. I love that we don't find out that Jarod's watching Parker get dressed the whole time at first. Then he speaks. I was so dead. Squeed aloud. You're a master author. Thank you a billion Mirage.
Reviewer: Xena SignedMirage you have made my week. So much to love and so perfect. More please?
