Hey, great story haiza!!! Really good and moving and satisfying without turning sappy. Love your characterization.
Thank you for such a nice piece!
Author's Response:
Thanks, middleman. I've had it percolating in my mind for some time. Nothing fascinates me more in The Pretender than the relationship between Jarod and Sydney.
Of course, if it were a real counseling session, they'd probably have to go into the whole Stockholm Syndrome thing... Now that would be interesting.
Reviewer: middleman SignedWhile the Centre may be most famous for its insidious Pretender program, there are many other projects funded by the corporation. Chief among these, the Bishop program is responsible for the procurement, training, and handling of professional killers. This story asks the question, ‘What if something went horribly wrong?’
Oh I like this introductory chapter. The quality of your writing so far bodes well for your OC... Great Sydney and Mr Parker characterization, intriguing case with just enough details to hook the reader in... Now I can't wait to meet Kathleen and I can already see the moral pain for Jarod, having to sim a broken assassin...
Congrats!
I like these haiza, great job, especially with the third and final piece and all the questions Gem has about the real world and merry christmases, presents and football matches, I thought all those details were very relevant!
The second piece was extremely sad, you conveyed the confusion and self-distrust and pain very effectively in your writing...
Thanks for answering my challenge and giving readers such an interesting insight into Gem's psyche!
