Title: Gone (Part I)

Have you ever made a grown man cry? Yes, Mirage, you have. You went deep here. So deep. Describing the properties and then describing Pierce Livingston, his clothes too large for him because he's lost weight and Joana Livingston. She's abused her husband and is losing her mind. The entire chapter is heart shattering. When I thought I was done crying I cried some more. And that final kick in the chest the closing scene. Jarod was glad Miss Parker hadn't heard him lie. How do you write like this? How do you go this deep? Do you ever resurface? It's so tragic. I know that some families live this tragedy. I never thought about telling their stories, the agony of it all. There are no more words.

Title: Gone (Part I)

Your descriptive work is pretty freaking amazing actually Mirage. You paint me a portrait of the properties and.. wow. It's impressive as hell.  Miss Parker was right. Jarod was wrong. For some reason I like that. He's like NEVER wrong during the series and it was getting a little irritating. You keep it real.

Title: Gone (Part I)

Long time no read. I've been out of the country for a long while. I was disappointed with the novels, reboot. It wasn't broken didn't need to be fixed. I have dvds that laid the groundwork. I was done with the pretender. Surprise surprise. You aren't following the new story line. You are building on the foundation already poured out on the dvds. I don't think you know how much you are appreciated for your writing, talent, skill, and genius. I love your muses. I love that you are writing the story I know & the characters I know. You always suck me back in. You never fail to blow me away. It was a tweet, yes that dreaded social media tehehee. I realized I was looking at pretenderlives and someone had shared your fiction on twitter. I came here and decided I should tear myself away to review. Fantastic job! You know what you're doing. You know the characters. Top notch writing and a great story. One more thing. I did finally find your twitter account after asking DoctorRaines, The Triumvirate and weirdly the Quintumvirate... quintumivrate. The PTBs are watching you. I think Jarod might be watching too. Interesting followers Mirage. Keep writing. Please. There is one more chapter for me here and then I have to play serious catch up with your other fiction and some other authors.

Author's Response:

Ha. Ha. Jarod's watching? Um. No. No, no, no. Don't be delusional. Be anything else. I'm approximately 100% certain that the particular twitter follower you speak of is a pretender (pretending to be the guy who pretended to be the pretender). The Quintumvirate? Mm sounds a bit ominous. I'd watch my back if I were you. Ah, Raines is still around? Still up to no good probably. It's been a long time since I've popped 'round social media. I wonder if I can remember my password. Ha. Thanks for reading and reviewing and beware of social media.

Title: Gone (Part I)

I'm not logging in right now. I am always so excited to see a new update from you. I just want to thank you so much Mirage for keeping true to the characters. Many authors convey my own namesake as themselves and give Miss Parker their actions and reactions and make Miss Parker act and think and say what they would. You've never done that. She's indifferent and supposedly unbothered by Jarod and his overwhelming presence...that's who she is! Miss Parker would never fangirl over him. She might feel it and act like she doesn't but she plays cool. Like with Thomas...she didn't drool over him and she wanted him. She snapped at Broots to get that background check because she wanted Thomas but she played it cool and confident. Thank you for staying true to her and Jarod and all of these characters I love dearly. It's been a pleasure to read you. You write exceptionally well too and very clear. I did have to reread because the chapters are few and far between but I enjoyed the reread. I could read you forever. I hope I will. Please don't stop writing for us. I know you're busy writing and ghostwriting but please don't leave us. Congrats ie, etc and good luck.

Author's Response:

Guess who just realized she had reviews?

Aw thanks. "Jarod's overwhelming presence?" What is that? I haven't a clue (there, I've said it: I'm clueless). He's a man. He's only a man- a man when he's not being a child or a terrorist or just your average run o the milll pain in the arse. He's not "overwhelming"- is he? He's practically harmless (certainly when faced with Parker's gun at least). Oh, I don't know. I. Don't. Know. I don't know (X infinity). I simply write. I don't think about it. If I thought about it, then surely I'd rethink writing altogether and go do something else (sleep, for instance). Parker did sort of fangirl all over the Brootster (but that was a dream) (aha! or was it?). I don't have an opinion either way. It's fan fic. There's no wrong or right, there's only write. I'll try to update more frequently. I can't promise anything. Thank you, Miss Parker, for reading and reviewing.

Merci beaucoup mon amie! Welcome back!! This is the wonderful. Mirage. I suspect Rachael is bad. She didn't tell Jarod there was ever a suspect. I always try to guess. This is the guess. More please.

Author's Response:

Thank you., MlleParker. Rachel could be bad. I'm working on the update.

Title: Gone (Part I)

Wow. This isn't going the way I thought it would. I'm glad it didn't. You always surprise me with a twist or a hundred. I love the way you got them here. Ive been a Pretender fan from the word go and am a long time reader of fanfic. I love the way you write them, how true you are to the characters and the story. I wasn't happy with the novels comics merchandising as they are a retelling of the dvds and an inferior one. I'm glad you haven't sold out. I'm glad you write the universe I know and love. Thank you thank you thank you thank you. Please continue.

Author's Response:

Haha. Um, no, the stories never exactly stay on course. I'm as shocked as you are. No, I'm appalled actually. Mortified. I have a feeling I'll be snarling at the laptop before I'm done. I will continue. Thanks for reading and reviewing, Gunner.

Wow. Excellent update Mirage. You know these characters and have command of them and command of the language. You write with clarity and coherence. Your talent and genius is so striking and is unparalleled. I love this direction and I've enjoyed each chapter, each building up to what I know will be an amazing climax. I don't think anyone grasps the complexities of Jarod and Miss Parker and all of the characters like you. It was a pleasure Mirage. Welcome back.

Author's Response:

Thanks for reading and reviewing, Christoph. You're awfully sweet. Don't get your hopes up please. Thanks for the warm welcome back.

Title: Gone (Part I)

I see I haven't reviewed in a couple chapters. Sorry about that. Its getting a little confusing for me. I may have to re-read from the beginning. In one chapter Jarod and Rachel had separate rooms and in another they are f-ing like bunnies.

Plus the missing for six years, back to save JR, then part of the Triumvirate, to workings for the F.B.I. I'm finding hard to follow. Miss Parker needs to kick his ass though. Not to mention Rachel's.

Thanks for updating. I've said it before but I truly believe it,  you write MP and J keeping true to the spirit of the series. If Steve and Craig aren't going to bring them back I am relying on you.

I know you aren't a MP/J shipper but it seems like your muse is. Maybe not in this story. Yet...

Author's Response:

Don't apologize. If you're confused, I should apologize. I do apologize. The next chapter may very well involve some pain- your comment regarding kicking ass is timely. No, I'm still not a shipper. Miss Parker sails her own ship, raises her own flag- that works. I agree: I've always believed that my various Muses are traitors (ultimate shippers); I won't be shocked at all when the pair invariably wind up in bed- or on the floor or against the wall- together (smut obsessed muses). Thanks for reading and reviewing, Twisted.

Title: Gone (Part I)

Solid chapter Mirage. I think you're warming to Jarod after all these years. You certainly took your time dear. Miss Parker is still giving him the cold shoulder but I have a feeling that will work itself out. She's hurt right now and mourning her father.

I appreciate your descriptive work, and not only in regards to the gardens but the human landscape as well. You dive right in to tragedy and hold nothing back. I think you presented a realistic look inside abduction. I consider myself stable and slow to become emotional. I felt like I was in the home with those parents. I had tears in my eyes.

What will stand out most aside from Joana's instability is Jarod's desire to hug his sister in the middle of all that turmoil. That brought on the waterworks and a big grin. I heard grown men don't cry. People who say that haven't read your work. I'd love to read more of you. As always Mirage.

Author's Response:

Warming. Huh. I don't know. Jarod is okay. He's always been okay. I'm an objective observer. I'm glad you're liking it and I appreciate your taking the time to read and review.  Thanks.

Title: Gone (Part I)

I'm going to properly review this but now I just want to give props for this chapter. Girlfriend, you don't like Jarod? Most people can see he's sexy. I wonder if you sense what you're dealing with here in him or if you feel nothing because I'm like Michael's costar was on Jeffrey always like 'oh my god there HE is', mouth hanging open and in awe and I'm curious how you react. You've actually seen Michael in real life. Were you like 'omg'? Did you stop and stare, feel anything? Please tell me you didn't throw up? lol  Did you realize at the time that many women would have traded places with you and probably asked him to bed? Did sex cross your mind at all?!! lol Once in a lifetime opportunity Mirage. You could have claimed it was research for your fiction? Think about it?! Not that you need to research. You nailed it honey. Anyhoo! Very profound the way you illustrated his similarities to the Triumvirate and his ability to split himself ie be concerned for Parker's feelings while preying on her feelings. He's a gorgeous pyschopath, inn't he?! You reveal his darkness without a physical action ie he doesn't have to be physically or sexually abusive not that I'd have a problem reading abuse. It's been a while since Circles and Forces. Just putting that out there. Your wording showed tact. There are too many quotables to mention. Thank you for continuing to write Mirage. Thank you a million babes. Welcome back!

Author's Response:

Hi, Xena. Mm. No, I didn't vomit (I'm anti-vomit, actually). They were all completely benign non-encounters. I can't remember what I was thinking; I, do, however, know I've never ventured outdoors like a dominatrix in search of prey (and at 5'9 & 121 lbs I wouldn't be a terribly intimidating predator, I'm afraid) (I'd have to stalk the shorter men) (where did I leave that darn whip?) (haha). No, I didn't stop and stare, my jaw didn't unhinge. He's a human (not a veritable sex god or chew toy).

Yes, I am aware that Jarod's player is a wanted man: the incubator is the ultimate fangirl; she watched "sex" operas 24/7, all day, every channel, dvds and it just so happens that- (that I don't want to finish the sentence). It's weird what I didn't remember remembering (until reviewers began talking to me more and more about Dr. Mike). It's safe to say that I'm more aware than I want to be. Fortunately, it skipped a generation or I developed an immunity.

I think that covers your questions.

I'm glad you're liking this. Thank you, Xena, for reading and reviewing.

Title: Gone (Part I)

Wow. Just so much wows. Mirage! Welcome back! You have been missed. I was really worried about you this time because it's been a little while. I'm afraid you're going to not come back and update one day. Let me just say that I'm glad you're here! Now this update. Wowsers! Did not see any of that coming. First Parker's repsonse to Jarod's slip up presuming the girls dead but then Parker. She saw the photo and probably only decided to go along with protesting too loudly for too long because she thought the girls were alive. Jarod does manipulate her ,he has in the past. But it was subtle even here that I ddin't realize what he'd done until she called him on it and put him on the same level as her father and the Triumvirate. Then the landscape descriptions. Love! Such an emotional reaction from Gracie's mom. I feel so much for those parents. The ending...you always cinch it up and tie together so right. Jarod lying to the parents...heart is broken. I'm excited for more please make it so and make it soon if you can.
