Title: The Missing Piece

You are a writer Mirage. You are my favorite author and the reason I was still here when the reboot came about.  I did buy the first novel because I was excited...THIS is better. I'd love to see the series take any route that your fics take. You are so insightful and...you're brilliant. You should be writing our Pretender novels. Keep on the great work.

Author's Response:

Thank you, needlepoint, for the kind words. I'm not certain how, exactly, to respond to much of what you've said. I appreciate the review, I'm thrilled that there are still people out there reading fan fiction. Fan. Fiction. Fan fiction- the bowels of literature. I don't consider myself a writer; I am not writing the Pretender novels. I'm a realist; I haven't deluded myself into thinking I'm a writer or that I'll ever be writing a Pretender novel. I'm just a simple person from a small town where people work and struggle and still get nowhere. Yay life.

It would be too awkward if I told you how much better this is than some other books I've actually spent money on! I feel like I've been on journey with my best friends when I read you and I also feel that I'm coming home again. Thank you for being here Mirage. It means more than you are going to ever know.

Author's Response:

Hello, Amelia, and thank you for reading and reviewing. Indeed that would be awkward; awkward isn't good. Thank you for being here.

Well done Mirage. Be proud of these very impressive achievements. Captivating plots, original dialouge, twists that keep me on the edge of my seat. I've never seen these characters more in character than when you write them. I hope to read much more from you in the future. Congratulations!

Author's Response:

Not well done, but I suppose I've written worse. Thank you, Jarod, for reading and reviewing.

Title: The Missing Piece

I've read each of your updates twice already. I can't figure out which story I enjoy most so far! It's such an achievement and on top of your completed fics!!! The child abuse part of this was really emotional. You write from inside the story. It's kind of disturbing. I can't imagine what it's like inside your mind to see things so vividly. It's like you have been there and you open the door so we can go too. If you're still willing to give away your muse I will take her to write like that. Thanks for the journey. Please update soon.

Author's Response:

Thank you for reading and reviewing, d_el1. Yes, please, take the Muse.

Don't stop now. I've heard rumours...but please don't ever stop writing for this fandom. I wouldn't be a fan without you and you are the best pretender author. Keep it on Mirage!

I love it!!! Mirage the scene with the little girl was extremely powerful. It was surreal. You make it seem so real like it's something that really happened. That abuse part read more like a memoir than a story...it was so real! Jarod's reaction when he "started" at Parker's finger being thrust added emotion and tension that made me shiver and break out in chill bumps. Mirage Mirage! Thanks for updating!

Author's Response:

Consider this an apology; I certainly didn't intend the chapter (or the series or anything I write, have written or have yet to write) to resemble childhood or actual events/people (I hate it when real life fodder spills into fiction)- that said, I see now that there are some similarities: I quoted the F.P.U. verbatim at one point during the scene that you mentioned. Moving on: I hope those were good chill bumps and I suppose I'm pleased if anything I write can evoke any sort of reaction/emotion. Thank you, Christoph, for reading and reviewing.

Thank God! Top notch as always Mirage. Wow! You are a wordsmith and I don't say that often. I'm overjoyed that you've carried on with your fiction as post-isle status quo in the original universe. Your Jarod, Parker, Sydney, etc.. are the characters that I fell in love with. They are the ones I remember from the TV series. An update from you always makes me smile. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for keeping the Pretender spirit alive.

HOLY COW! "then pivoted suddenly, and found herself looking down twin barrels of death, lethal infinity. Parker thought it oddly ironic that a figure eight was the last thing a person lined up in Kyle's sights would see."

A double barrel is a figure 8! Infinity! I love that it turned out to be Jarod's gun! When I read that I had to call all of my coworkers over to read it loll. I think you've written your best (Nemesis, Transcendence) but you go and pull something like this lol! DOH, It's so d*** amazing. Your fiction is intelligently written and action packed. Your characters are always above board. Miss Parker was so bad a** in the fight scene and was the hero! You describe everything just the right way. Gotta say that I love you for bringing back Kyle and in a plausible way and I'm glad he's impressed with Parker. YOU should definitely be writing a Pretender novel. You are the best. Thanks for sticking with the writing and keeping us so entertained. What we do without you and the under the dome series?!!!!

Sorry, haven't reviewed in a while (busy with lots of things... bla bla bla) but it doesn't mean I haven't been reading :) As always, great chapter! Loved the Little red riding hood reference though definitely not kiddy stuff ;)

"You can't allow this to continue." Mmm... but you do it anyway.

Cannot wait to see where you're going with this :)

Mirage once again I salute your talent.

Amazewows. I read the last chapter first if you didn't know. :) Your descriptive work is aweinspiring. Not many writers illustrate so well with words. The transitions between scenes is seemless too. It goes without saying that the plot is original and exciting. You are a talented scribe and my favorite. It's a shame that you aren't on the Pretender writing team...speaking of, I prefer this. :) I'm so happy to see Broots, Raines and all the characters I love from the original universe.

Title: The Missing Piece

You have an extraordinary writing style...very strong and intelligent. Real professional and clean. You should be a writer in real life if you aren't already..I know you've heard that one before..it's true. Each story is a journey and I feel like I'm in the story in the pretender universe ..the original universe... It's so amazing. Thank you for sharing this with me. Thank you too for exploring Kyle, for bringing him back. I can believe he's alive. I couldn't believe his heart was given to JR. It was very unrealistic the way the creators did the heart transplant on the show. The heart tissue would have began dying immediately and would have been useless...my bf is a surgeon and always rollled his eyes at the way they fouled up the medical stuff. Please don't stop writing.

I love all of your fics and I'm excited for more!!!! Everything is changing in the Pretender world lately and I'm soooo relieved and happy that someone still writes my favorite characters in a way that I can recognize them. Thank you for all these splendid post IOTH fics. Ohh Mirage you know Parker, Jarod and the rest of them all so well and you always do them justice. Keep writing please! You're the best! :)

Top notch Pretender caliber quality writing and characterisations as always. You really know how to flesh out the characters and dialog so we can SEE in our mind what is transpiring. You ARE a writer, m'dear, the best Pretender writer bar none. This story is what I'd love to have seen Craig Van Sickle and Steven Long Mitchell do with the series. Thanks for your constant continuity and consistently amazing story telling abilities. I can't rate it anything but a 10.

Excellent beginning, especially the first part. I liked how you chose to start your story with a set of secondary characters we knew so little about and offer us a plausible portrait of what they would be like a few years later.

I won't dwelve into any particulars right now, because I intend to give a full review when the story is finished, but I will congratulate you on your writing. Keep at it!

Title: The Missing Piece

I still find it funny that you are reluctant to write and are your worst and cruelest critic.

You have carved out a niche for yourself, I've said this before I know so bear with me here. You're not a shipper but you don't shun shippers and that gives you objectivity.

You do justice to the characters, their dialog and you have a still have an amazing knack for setting the scene and "weaving the tangled web."

You have mastered the craft of writing like few others, if any, have. I love you twisted ingenuity and intense 'take no prisoners' approach. You're not afraid of the dark or pain or tears. And you don't force the story but rather allow it flow seemlessly and effortlessly.

As for grammar, I saw no errors, nothing unrealistic, no inconsistencies or those outrageous leaps of logic Jarod makes during the series/telefilms. You explore humanity. It's the only way to give us an original plot. Most fan fic plots have been done to death already and here you've give us something fresh.

This story is brilliant! I find it entertaining, heartfelt, heart stopping. It's drama. It's life, and you write it well. I've said it before.

In closing, I'd once again like to plead with you to continue the J/P incest fic, to go somewhere you haven't gone before. I know you're not comfortable with the genre and hope you will let that discomfort motivate you to write the story.

Thank you for writing, writing well, writing often and sharing! <3

This is shaping up to be quite a shipper fic but I'm not surprised as you've written them before. So far I love it and the angst and drama is what I expect from the serie. All I ask is please don't make it too fluffy.

Author's Response:

Thanks for reading and reviewing, Jarod. Haha. Of all the user names on all the fan fic sites in all of the world you had to choose that one. Also, I want to thank you for acknowledging that I do explore other genres- that said, the show was comprised mostly of angst and drama and dark, evil things (and I'm not referring to Raines' leopard print underwear which was just scary). Don't make it too fluffy? *snorts* Blasphemy. Haha.

PLEASE don't EVER stop writing Pretender fiction! I won't allow it! :-) You are the only reason that I still visit this site!

Another story! You are truly an overachiever! I love the beginning and the dynamic when Jarod and Miss Parker see each other after seven years. There is STILL a connection. There always will be.

Thanks for writing! I am looking forward to more.
