I'm a 28-year-old student...wait, no, I'm not. I just graduated with a Master of Divinity, very sadly, because I love school. No, I'm still a student, just not formally.
Books, writing, theology, and psychology are among my passions. The Pretender draws me because of the depth of its psychological insights and questions. I have never seen a TV show that delves into psychological concepts as deeply as this one. Family, need, belonging, anger, hate, psychosis, love, Stockholm Syndrome, identity... Incredible.
I am a newcomer to The Pretender. I watched my first episode in the beginning of May 2009, and as of the middle of June 2009 I'm still working my way through Season 4. Though I'm a neophyte, as a writer, I have to write about what I love. I love The Pretender.
Right now I'm trying to write at least one drabble for each episode.
Great little moment. I liked it.
Reviewer: Haiza Tyri SignedThomas did. I can almost imagine Jarod going from this little piece of contemplation to sending Thomas out to meet Miss Parker. Beautiful description of her eyes.
Reviewer: Haiza Tyri SignedI really like the first one.
Reviewer: Haiza Tyri SignedI've been giggling madly. Oh, all that frightful junk food Jarod eats...
Reviewer: Haiza Tyri SignedOh, Miss Parker's death. Beautifully done.
Reviewer: Haiza Tyri SignedI read this once before and neglected to leave a review, and it has stuck in my mind ever since. Beautifully done.
Reviewer: Haiza Tyri SignedOh, beautifully angsty. I love it.
Reviewer: Haiza Tyri SignedLovely. And I like the anthropomorphication of the dryer.
Reviewer: Haiza Tyri SignedBeautiful and beautifully written.
Author's Response: *bows* thanks a lot!
I vote Brigitte.
Author's Response: your guess is correct :)
Magnificent.
Author's Response: thanks!
Oh, I love the black-white/grey analyses. Nicely done.
Reviewer: Haiza Tyri SignedBirth of a genius.
Very well written, though the twin thing does give me pause. I thought Kyle was considerably younger than Jarod. Though they do look pretty close in age in the Centre flashbacks, in the "current day" parts there's a great deal of difference in their ages.
Fascinating idea, though, having it all kind of be Major Charles' fault.
Reviewer: Haiza Tyri SignedI really like this musing analysis of Jarod.
This bit is truly splendid: "Hard when you expected softness, softness when you expected firmness, always covered quickly by a nod, a bowed head or a blink of an eye. They were halves of the same coin."
Reviewer: Haiza Tyri SignedGreat glimpse into Raines’ mind, and I like seeing Sydney first through his eyes. Also neat getting to see things through Jacob's eyes. I like the contrast between him and Syd.
Will there be more?
Reviewer: Haiza Tyri SignedOoh, interested in reading more. Nice job, bringing Alex back. No one ever really dies in The Pretender, after all.
Reviewer: Haiza Tyri SignedAn empty lair sends the gang into unfamiliar territory. The hunters turn game, while Jarod fights for what he thought he'd always have; His mind.
Just finished chapter 10, and I'd just like to say that the bit about Jarod's room in his mind and his reprogramming of Lyle's reprogramming is brilliant. My favorite part of the whole story so far.
Also I love Sydney's characterization.
Reviewer: Haiza Tyri SignedAs always, it's marvelous. Jarod back in the Centre ties my stomach up in knots. You do it beautifully.
Author's Response: *bows* thank you very much, o faithful reviewer!!! This one was my first fic ever, and it's like a "middleman style 101", lol!
