Wonderful plot and very well written, interestingly told as we watch them destroy Jarod. You told the story in a logical way that you could see what the actions were doing to him.
I will admit that I was left with a creepy feeling, especially when you know that man is capable of doing so horrific thing to each other... and in fact has done it throughout history. The added element of creepiness is Lyle and Cox, those two alone have a high level of creepy going for them in the Centre.
Great writing, but do we get to see Jarod recover? He does have those that care about him. It would seem if he did recover it would be a long trip back. A real leap of faith. Can he do it?

I remember this story! I enjoyed it the first time I read and enjoyed it again now.
I thought your plot was interesting and the end was a bit of a surprise... did you let Lyle live for a sequel? I really thought each time I read it that when Parker reset the bomb Lyle would have joined the rest Mr Parker and Raines!
I enjoyed the dialog and the action. I hope seeing it posted again means you are writing again!
Reviewer: nightowl Signed I am enjoying this story. I like the way the title - Under the Surface- is the theme of each chapter. It appears throughout the story without seeming forced, added with the natural flow of the story. That takes work, and you are doing it well.
It so often felt that in the series, Parker was alone. Good job with this.
You write very well. I have enjoyed this story all along. The characters are what make the series interesting and your characters are making this story interesting.
I only hope Miss Parker doesn't let Sydney off to easy. Especially since he neglected his daughter when her health was in question. I would imagine she would be used to that from a father figure.

Reviewer: nightowl Signed I'm not usually fond of cross overs, but lately I have found at least two that are being written now that I am ejoying very much.
I put off reading this, the good point of that being I had a nice long read and enjoyed it. It is not farfetched as i thought it maybe to mix these two series. So far you have done a very good job interweaving them. I like how you have written the characters and their interactions. I'm curious how you will continue this.

Thank you for the feedback! I'm trying very hard to stay true to the characters from both fandoms. I've written Witchblade fic before, so I have a good sense of how to write those characters, but this is my first fic with The Pretender characters & it's been challenging to find their voice (particularly Jarod's).
I've just about caught up to what I had written, but updates will keep coming, but I'm hoping tp update every couple of weeks unless life gets too crazy).

Another seamless chapter. Very well done.
I especially enjoyed Broots comments, they had me chuckling as I read. They were so Broots and so well timed and written. Just as the series used dark humor and wit even when the theme was a dark usually by comments from Miss Parker or Broots, you managed to do the same. Broots out did himself iwth this.
I hope Parker doesn't really deliver Jarod. She has shown herself to have layers beyond the surface. As a red file I always figured she had more than they gave her credit for, and perhaps her life at the Centre was one big pretend. That's just my take. I'm looking forward to see how you work this out.
Good job everyone. A very enjoyable chapter the whole way through.
Author's Response: Aw, you've got me positively beaming here nightowl. Thanks a bunch! As a writer who tends to block every time I get close to writing utensils, Broots was a lot of fun to do as I never really had to force it.
Interesting theory as far as Parker goes. Wonder if it'll come true, hmmm...

Very well written, nice mixture of suspense, mystery and characer interaction... but I hate cliffhangers! and you have quite the cliff hanger at the end of this chapter.
As I swing in the wind, I'll look forward to your next chapter. Just don't let me "hanging" for long please.
