Author's Chapter Notes:

Another drabble in response to a challenge in the pretender100. I don't own Miss Parker and she'd pull her 9 mm on anyone claiming to own her.


For the longest time, the only color of his eyes was simply pain. She didn't fully understand it first, but ever since the day she lost her mother she knew where it came from. It was the dreadful feeling of being alone in the world, the fear of not being loved.

Now, decades later she could still sometimes see and hear the same pain. It was there behind anger and playfulness, revenge and kindness. And regardless of the careful steps she had taken in order to cover her own pain, it lingered in her memories. Maybe it wasn't his Pretender skills but his past that let him see through her facade.
