Happy Birthday Miss Parker

Jarod was walking down the sidewalk, admiring all the new
things he hasn't seen before. He had this empty feeling
inside and didn't know what it could be. He kept walking
until he came upon the biggest church he had ever seen. It
was white brick with a cross standing on top. It was just the
most beautiful thing he had seen and it was just sitting
there, by itself. He walked inside and looks around. He
noticed a young girl sitting on the front row crying. He
walks up to her to see what is bothering her.
She tells him, "My husband was killed and I'm pregnant. I
didn't even get to tell him."
Jarod told her, "I will will help you find your husbands's
killer."
She told him, "You don't have to and I didn't catch your
name."
He replied, "That's okay and besides I like to help people.
Oh, my name is Jarod."
She responded, "It is a pleasure to meet you and my name is
Danielle but you call me Danny."
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Danny."

Miss Parker having a sleepless night stares up at the ceiling
watching the time pass by. The phone rings and she answers,
"WHAT!" It is Broots telling her they found a lead on Jarod.
She jumps up and gets ready. She meets Sydney and Broot in
her office.
Broots tells her Jarod was last spotted in LA. She wants to
know everything. He told Miss Parker, "I'm working on it."
She told him, "That's not good enough. Now get busy."
Sydney tells her to be nice.
"Nice, I don't know what nice is," Parker replied madly.
Sydney walks Broots out. Broots asked, "What is with her
today?"
Sydney explains it is her birthday. She gets that way on her
birthday and the anniversary of her mother's death. She will
be okay.

Miss Parker noticed a box wrapped in this beautiful white
paper with a lace bow sitting in the corner of her office.
She walks over to it and unwraps it to find a letter addessed
to her from her mother. As she begins to read it, she starts
to cry. She pulls her herself together because Miss Parker
doesn't cry.
Broots walks in her office and says softly, "I'm sorry. I can
come back later."
She answered harshly, "Don't you knock! What did you find
out?"
"Jarod was in LA helping a young man find his son. He was a
janitor in a hospital. He tapped into their computer system
and I have to go follow up on the lead."
She tells him, "Not without Sydney and me. Go home and get
ready. We are going to LA."

Jarod finds out Danny's husband was a lawyer and his firm
was behind his death. 'What?' he thought. Jarod explains what
he knows to Danny and she tells him, "I can get you in. You
are about Kyle's size. I have some suits you can wear."
She gathers up some things for Jarod. Then she introduced him
to Kyle's firm as a friend of the family. She tells everyone
Jarod is a lawyer and he going to take Kyle's place."
Jarod's first case was defending Kyle's murderer. While he
was there he overheard some information about Kyle's death.
Kyle found out about a deal a fellow lawyer made with a drug
lord to get him off. After Kyle overheard this, he confronted
his friend about it. He threaten to have his friend's
license. His friend got scared and had him killed. Now Jarod
had to prove it was him. He thought and thought, 'What am I
going to do?' Then it came to him, while in court defending a
client he would turn the tables. He had to find those files
and make copies. Jarod sat up all night to put his plan into
action. Meanwhile, Miss Parker, Sydney, and Broots landed
in LA.

Miss Parker kicked in the door down in the hotel where Jarod
was staying. Knowing Jarod was already gone, she hoped to
find something that would lead her to him. The only thing
left behind was a red notebook, some clothes, and a hospital
badge.
"Ah ah, look what we have here," Parker told Broots with
excitement. "See what you can find out about this hospital."
Broots leaves and Parker is pissed, "Will we ever get him Syd?"
"I don't know Miss Parker. He will come home when he is ready."
"How come I don't believe you Syd?" asked Parker.
"In due time Miss Parker, in due time." Sydney replied.

Broots comes back and they load up for the hospital. They
walk in the front door and Parker asked the nurse behind the
desk, "Have you ever seen this man before?" and she shows her
a photo of Jarod.
The nurse replies, "We have so many people in and out
everyday. I can't help you."
Parker getting mad takes a deep breath and asked calmly, "You
mean you don't know if you have seen this man before!"
"Yes, that is what I am saying." replied the nurse.
"Come on Syd, let's search the hospital. These idiots around
here don't know anything." replied Parker.
After they search the hospital and there is no sign of Jarod.
Broots goes through the computer system for the name of the
man or his son Jarod was helping.
"Nothing" replied Broots.
He knew Miss Parker was going to be madder than she already
was.
"What do you mean nothing?" she said angerly.
"Take a deep breath Miss Parker." replied Sydney.
"Apparently, he was working on something else when he was
here." replied Broots.
After searching everywhere, LA was a dead end.

Arriving back in Blue Cove, Miss Parker recieve another
gift. "What could it be?" she thought to herself. She opens
the package wrapped in brown paper, to only find a note
inside. It says...
Dear Miss Parker,
I am sorry that I missed you in LA. I really wanted to
wish you Happy Birthday in person but something else
came up. I do hope to see you soon. Love, Jarod
Furious, she slams the box down. Now, more than ever
she has the hunger to find Jarod before anyone else.
Knowing she was that close to him, how could she miss him.

Broots enters her office to tell her that there is a lawyer
in Dallas that looks like Jarod. She tells Broots to get her
on the next flight out. She is going to Dallas.
Broots says, "By yourself."
"Yes, Broots. I am a big girl. I can take care of myself."
replied Parker.

When Miss Parker arrives in Dallas, she is on the look out
for Jarod. She goes to the law firm and finds out he is do in
court any minute. She is going to meet him there for a little
surpise party.

Before going to court, Jarod walks by the church again. He
goes inside and sits down in a pew. He just starts talking
to God. He doesn't know what to say but he keeps on talking.
He feels better inside and Danny walks in.
"Jarod, it is time. We have to go." replied Danny. He gets up
and they walk out.
They walk in the courtroom and Jarod starts with his case. As
Jarod starts to defend his client, that is accused of Kyle's
murder, he turns to his fellow lawyer. Jarod begins talking
how he killed Kyle and blamed an innocent man. The lawyer
can't take it anymore and starts confessing everything. Danny
is relieved to hear her husband can rest in peace.
Now that is is all over, Miss Parker walks in. "Jarod," she
says.
Knowing who it is, he turns around and looks at her. He is
trying to figure out how he is going to get out of there.
Jarod anwsers, "Well, if it isn't Miss Parker. Happy
Birthday. You are looking well today."
"Shut up Jarod. You are coming home with me." she said.
"Fat chance Miss Parker." replied Jarod. "You know I am
never going back there."
"Oh, and how are you going to get out this time?" she said
sarcastically.
"You will see." replied Jarod with a smile.
As she comes closer to him, the bailiff walks in pushing the
door into she falls. Jarod runs out the side door. She jumps
up and goes after him. By the time she gets out there, he is
gone. She finds out where he is staying and goes to his place
to wait. When she gets there, there is no sign of him. The
only thing he left behind was a Taz pez dispenser with a note
that said, "Happy Birthday."
Knowing Jarod got away again, she had to find a way to tell
her father.

Sydney meets her at the airport back in Delware.
He asked, "Well, what happen?"
She tells him, "It was a false alarm. Jarod was never there."
She decides to go home. It has been a long day. Sydney asked
if she needed a way home. She tells him "No, I can make it."

On the way home she pulls out Jarod's pez dispenser and
wonders if she will ever capture him or let him be.
The phone rings, "What." she snaps.
"Hello Angel, any news on Jarod." replied her father.
"No, Daddy," she answered.
"Damn it, Angel. Will you ever bring him back?" replied Mr.
Parker.
"You know I will daddy. I won't let you down." Parker
answered.
Mr. Parker ends the call.
Now she is in her driveway, wondering if what she said was
true. She opens her door and sitting on her coffee table is a
birthday cake that says, 'Happy Birthday Miss Parker'.

Danny is sitting at Kyle's grave telling him, he was going to
be a daddy. Jarod walks up behind her and tells her, "You're
going to be a wonderful mother and Kyle would be so proud
that you helped me find his killer."
Danny replied, "Thank you Jarod. Who was that woman that was
chasing you?"
Jarod replied, "Just a friend. Well, I have to be going now.
Good luck to you and your baby."
"Thanks for all your help. I will never forget you. Bye."
replied Danny as Jarod walks off leaving her alone at her
husband's grave.
