Title: 'Til Death, She Could Wait

Fascinating how Miss Parker turns the tables on Jarod, if only for a few minutes.  Jarod may be the hero of the series, but Miss Parker is more the victim, too often pushed and pulled around by the Centre.

I loved this, probably because I have the same feelings as you regarding Parker/Jarod and this particular episode tends to piss me off to tears. I always felt Jarod putting Thomas in her life like that was sickly manipulative and the most cruel thing he could do to her, and it makes me angry that she never tells him that.

You are so right.  Time to turn the roles around.

I hope you continue this.  I am looking forward to M.P next step and Jarods

suprise.

Author's Response:

Ah, another kindred spirit ;)

I'm primarily a short(ish) fic writer, and this piece, (along with my next two), was conceived as a one-shot, as I try to get into their heads.  But I'll certainly continue if they tell me what comes next!

Lovely. Succinct. Very well done, a tattered rose.

I've echoed these same sentiments in conversations with online friends so you can imagine my reaction (*nods*) as I read this. Jarod stalks, harasses Parker and it's makes me very angry- angry for Parker, who doesn't seem to care that frankenrat is pulling the strings and manipulating her. And she never listens when I scream and toss socks at the tv.

In short, I loved it, especially the resounding "Silence." at the end. It's a shame this didn't happen on the show. Instead, Parker became more and more trusting when Jarod was really just as manipulative as the Centre ghouls. Ah, well.

I hope you will continue to share and that you will forgive this probably scattered, half baked review. When I unpack these boxes and feel oh..less out of sorts, I may add to the review. Thanks for sharing.

Author's Response:

Woohoo for avoiding EPIC!Fail (I have very low expectations of my own work.)

I'd poked around the fandom enough to know I'm not crazy and alone with those Parker/Jarod issues, which is very reassuring.  I don't think I'll ever be able to completely leave that vein.  I mean, he never even acknowledges that she failed to shoot him a few times, and called off the sweepers right after Kyle died the second time.  He just snarked her out in the Bank and waved her mother's letters around like a complete ass.   And she ignores it all.

Hope the boxes go well - I always find they carry the weight of impending something and the satisfaction of creating order, though the impending bit tends to win out.
