I love the way you wrote this, sort of left to the readers' interpretation, I think. It seems Miss Parker isn't really running the Centre, that the Centre and the 'sweepers' exist only in her mind, that she was institutionalized (as was Jarod) and has imagined everything else afterwards. Or that's one way to look at it. Nevertheless, I love it.
