Great writing!  I love Major Charles's "voice."  It's angry and stressed and nostalgic and even a bit funny, in a dark, ironic way.  (wow, too many "and"s!)  You perfectly captured what a normal guy who found himself in the middle of all this Centre insanity would feel like.
